15,000 RPM HD from Seagate PDF Print E-mail

Seagate has introduced the world's fastest hard drive running at 15,000 rpm. This 2.5in 3Gbps Serial Attached SCSI(SAS) with Savvio 15K brand is designed for servers and enterprise-oriented storage systems. Two Savvio 15K, a 36GB and a 73GB storage capacity, is available immediately for purchase. Savvio 15K with 1.6m hours mean time between failures(MTBF) only need 20 percent fewer drives than 3.5in drives, consume two-thirds of the power of 3.5in 15,000rpm drives and 12 percent faster seek time.

No Adult Stuff on Blu-ray Disc PDF Print E-mail

Sony said it will not allow its disc replicating subsidiary, Sony DADC, to handle adult film titles. Sony DADC will not duplicate any movies with certain rating or passed by a local motion picture association where its operate. This doesn't mean adult industry can't produce their product on a blu-ray disc, they just simply have to find another companies to produce their product in bulk.

Dual Format HD DVD Player from LG PDF Print E-mail

LG Electronics Inc. on Sunday introduced a single DVD player that supports both next-generation, high-definition DVD formats, Blu-ray and HD DVD. At a news conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, LG said its Super Multi Blu Player would be available in early February for about $1,200 and computer drive would be available in the first quarter for about the same price.

Hitachi Debut 1-Terabyte Hard Drive PDF Print E-mail

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced first 1-terabyte hard disk drive. 1TB drive is expected to ship sometime at 2007 and Hitachi is the first to announce it's drive. According to Hitachi, the drive will ships in the first quarter of 2007, and will cost about $399-- much less than a 750GB drives today. Dekstar 7K1000 will debut at the 2007 International CES, also known as the Consumer Electronics Show at Last Vegas and at the Storage Visions storage conference.
